About Meihodo

Meihodo is a cultural resort located at the foot of Mount Aso, surrounded by vast nature. The site spans 56,000 square meters and consists of 37 buildings.

Within beautifully crafted Japanese architectural spaces, guests can experience a wide range of traditional Japanese culture, including Kyudo (archery), Iaido, tea ceremony, and Bonseki.

Through these experiences, we hope to share the profound spirit of Japanese culture and create connections that transcend borders and cultures.

Meihodo is where traditional beauty meets modern comfort.

Immerse yourself in the great nature of Aso, relax your body and mind, and enjoy a special moment away from everyday life.

A training hall used for martial arts such as karate and kendo. It also displays armor, weapons, and historical materials, allowing visitors to reflect on the essence of martial arts in a solemn atmosphere.

Kyudo Range

In the silence, draw the bow and release the arrow—experience a moment where the mind becomes clear. Discover unity of body and spirit at Meihodo’s newly built Kyudo range.

Grand Taiko Drum

One of the largest Japanese drums is open to the public. Playing such a massive drum is a rare experience unique to Meihodo. The plaza in front also serves as a stage for performances.

A tea room filled with the spirit of wabi-sabi. Enjoy a quiet moment preparing tea in a peaceful atmosphere. The open garden in front is also used for meditation and sword practice.

Step into the heart of Meihodo and travel through history. The space features Buddhist statues collected from across Asia and rooms inspired by Chinese scholars' studies—like a living museum.

Grand Hall (Jujutsu Hall)

Originally used as a dojo, this space now hosts calligraphy and Bonseki experiences. Surrounded by greenery, it is ideal for focus, seminars, yoga, and meetings.
