Mount Aso’s Nakadake eruption alert level has been lowered from 3 to 2
At 16:00 on 1 September 2026 the Fukuoka Regional Headquarters of the Japan Meteorological Agency lowered the eruption alert level for Mount Aso’s Nakadake from 3 (do not approach the volcano) to 2 (do not approach the crater). Access as far as Aso Sanjo Plaza reopened at 9:00 a.m. on 2 September.

[Aso Fukko-wari] Stay in Aso and support Kumamoto
